SPRING & FALL FIELD TRIALS
Our spring and fall field trials are held at the State of Colorado's South Republican State Wildlife Area (SRSWA) which is about 30 miles north and east of Burlington, Colorado on the Colorado/Kansas border. The SRSWA offers us a variety of courses to choose from. The west course is typically used for Puppy, Derby and both All-Age stakes and the east course is used for our Gun Dog stakes. Courses can be varied to meet the needs of the events we are running.
WALKING TRIAL
Our
Walking Field Trial is run a at the former Sporthaven facility (owned by Dave Lincoln) just a few miles north of Bennett, CO and close to the Denver Metro Area. This event has been a success since its inception and continues to draw in NSTRA enthusiasts and hunters as well as our "hard core" field trialers. We generally have great weather this time of the year and a great time is had by all.
Joyce and Dave Lincoln are wonderful hosts and we greatly appreciate their letting us run on their beautiful property. The Gun Dog course is bottom land along Kiowa Creek and is lined with trees and abundant cover and several man made ponds to keep the dogs cool and to give the birds a drink as well. The Puppy and Derby course have both open areas and great tree lines and allow the young dogs to show their potential to the judges.
SPECIALTY SHOW - [Click here for 2011 Specialty Show Results]
The Skyline Brittany Club Summer Specialty Show is held in conjunction with the Greeley Kennel Club show in Greeley, Colorado. The show is held outdoors at Greeley's beautiful Island Grove Park north of town. This is a great venue for any show (especially an outdoor one), and there are hotels nearby, RV space at the site, electrical hookups, and some great restaurants as well. Contact the show secretary: Jan D Curtis, 2837 W 49th St., Evans, CO 80620-9516. Phone: (970) 339-3272 or visit www.JDCurtis-ShowSecretary.com for more information and online entry.
HUNT TESTS
Skyline has been fortunate to secure grounds for both Hunt Tests and an occasional field trial on the Windtuck Ranch. The ranch is located close to Agate Colorado. The ranch is owned by Leslee & Jim Masolotte who are very gracious hosts.
The picturesque topography is diverse and encompasses most of the types of dry land terrain that you find in Eastern Colorado. Most of the ranch is gently rolling with part in native prairie pasture with ponds and another part in dry land wheat/millet/alfalfa crop rotation. There is a timbered dry creek bed with a high bluff, which is wonderful for spectating. This provides a realistic hunting situation for any type of bird dog competition and a great outdoor experience.
